Govt announces 8,972 jobs in UAE, other countries

    The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has announced 8,972 job opportunities for Kenyans abroad.

    In a statement on Wednesday, September 17, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said the opportunities are across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Serbia.

    “The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with accredited recruitment agencies, is pleased to announce 8,972 overseas job vacancies across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Serbia,” read part of the statement.

    The job vacancies, which span multiple sectors, are open to both skilled and semi-skilled Kenyans.

    The opportunities include construction helpers, steel fixers, shuttering carpenters, masons, scaffolders, electricians, plumbers, welders, and general labourers.

    There are available positions for heavy and light vehicle drivers, motorcycle riders, family and house drivers, dump truck drivers, and airport drivers.

    Other openings include house nurses, nurse maids, nurses, caregivers, waiters and waitresses, baristas, kitchen helpers, kitchen stewards, chefs, pastry chefs, hotel room attendants, cleaners, beauticians and hairdressers, factory workers, security guards, porters, and lifeguards.

    For professionals, there are vacancies for HR managers, IT technicians, mechanical and electrical engineers, receptionists, sales executives, teachers, accountants, and auditors in Oman.

    Interested candidates are required to be between 21 and 45 years old, have a valid passport or proof of application, have relevant experience, be able to communicate in English and be medically fit.

    According to the Ministry of Labour, selected candidates will receive competitive salaries based on the job and country, with employers providing accommodation, transport, and medical cover.

    The recruitment for the jobs will take place from September 19 to September 23, 2025, in four western region counties.

    In Vihiga County, the exercise will take place at the Kaimosi Friends National Polytechnic on Friday, September 19, 2025.

    In Kakamega, the recruitment has been scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Sigalagala National Polytechnic.

     In Busia and Bungoma, the exercise will be conducted on Monday, September 22, 2025, and Tuesday, September 23, respectively.

    The recruitment drive in Busia will take place at Bumbe TTI, while in Bungoma it will be held at the Bungoma National Polytechnic.

    Interested Kenyans are required to carry their national IDs, passports or proof of passport application, passport photos, and any academic or work documents.
