The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is revising partner-funded projects to make sure they are completely in line with Kenya’s priorities for climate action, which include landscape and ecosystem restoration through the 15 billion national tree-growing plan.
The Kenya Watersheds Services Improvement Programme (KEWASIP) was one of the interventions that the Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Soipan Tuya, discussed with a World Bank delegation this morning. The World Bank group was led by Sector Leader for Sustainable Development, Ms. Ragini Dalal.
The Government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) outlines initiatives the Ministry is particularly interested in that open up the sector’s vast value chains for the generation of wealth and employment.
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Eng Festus Ng’eno (Environment and Climate Change) and Mr Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry) in the meeting that was also attended by representatives from the Deputy President’s Office and Net Fund led by CEO Mr Samson Toniok.
