The Public Service Commission (PSC) has commenced interviews for 7,000 unemployed university graduates seeking placement in the 8th Cohort of the Public Service Internship Programme.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 1, PSC Secretary Paul Famba announced that selection interviews began on the same day, marking a significant step toward providing young Kenyans with structured internship opportunities in government institutions.
According to the Commission, 13,117 candidates were shortlisted from a pool of 35,659 applicants who applied for the advertised positions.
The week-long interview process, which started on Monday, is scheduled to conclude on December 6, 2025.
Successful candidates will be deployed to various government ministries, state departments, and agencies in January 2026 to begin their one-year paid internship programme.
The Commission has deployed interview teams to 13 regional centers across the country, covering Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Eastern, Nairobi, and Central regions.
All shortlisted candidates have been notified through official SMS alerts, with detailed interview instructions available on their respective Jobs Portal accounts.
Candidates are required to present themselves in person on the dates and times indicated in their invitations, bringing their original National ID card, academic certificates, transcripts, and other documents specified in their interview notification.
The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a government youth empowerment initiative designed to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills to enhance their chances of employment, improve their entrepreneurship capabilities, and develop professionally.
When recruitment was announced earlier this year, the PSC outlined clear requirements for applicants. To qualify for an internship position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university, have graduated not earlier than 2018, and demonstrate proficiency in computer skills.
The internship programme runs for 12 months and is non-renewable. Successful interns will receive a stipend at a rate determined by the government, and upon completion of the programme, participants will be awarded a certificate recognizing their service.
