Greenwood Exits England Euro 2021 Squad

Mason Greenwood of Manchester United has withdrawn from England’s probable Euro 2020 squad, while teammate Jesse Lingard will also be absent.

Greenwood, 19, was anticipated to be included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the European Championships after regaining form at the close of last season.

United, on the other hand, has stated that he will remain in Manchester for treatment of a “underlying injury.”

Lingard has been left out of Southgate’s final roster.

Lingard, 28, shone during a loan spell at West Ham United in the second half of the Premier League season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 games.

Southgate will name his final squad for the tournament on Tuesday at 17:00 BST, with six players set to be cut after Greenwood’s withdrawal.

Greenwood appeared in 52 games for United in 2020-21, scoring 12 goals as they finished second in the Premier League and advanced to the Europa League final.
