GSU Officer Allegedly Stabs Girlfriend to Death in Kayole

A family in Nairobi’s Mihang’o estate is demanding the arrest of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer accused of the brutal murder of their kin.

Ann Muthoni Ngunjiri’s family said the woman was pursued by the suspect to her house within Mihang’o in Kayole, where she was allegedly assaulted and stabbed to death before he vanished without a trace.

An autopsy has since confirmed the cause of death was head injuries due to a combination of a sharp object and blunt force trauma.

The heartbroken mother says nothing can replace her child. An autopsy revealed Ann died as a result of head injuries due to a combination of a sharp object and blunt force trauma.

“Hata wafanye aje, hakuna kitu nitapata. Huyo mtoto wangu ameenda. Hata ashikwe afanyiwe aje, mimi mtoto wangu sitawai mpata,” said Wanjiku.

Ann was murdered on Sunday evening while at her house in Mihang’o within Kayole, allegedly by a GSU officer.

The 23-year-old had been in an on and off relationship with the suspect until Sunday, when the suspect allegedly decided to end their affair in a tragic manner.

Neighbours say the suspect pursued the woman to her house in Mihang’o, where he allegedly assaulted her and killed her before locking her body inside the house and vanishing under the cover of darkness without a trace.

Ann’s body was discovered on Monday, February 2, under the bed and soaked in a pool of blood.

“Wanasema alimfuata hadi kwa nyumba na alionekana. Sasa alimuulia huko na akafunga mlango akawacha key kwa security. Huyo msichana wangu alikuwa mpole sana. Huyo lazima alimshambulia vibaya, sababu hata majirani hawakusikia nduru. Monday ndio mwili ilipatikana nikaambiwa nikuje,” said Wanjiku.

Despite the suspect being identified, the family says police have done little to pursue and arrest the culprit. Police insist investigations are at an advanced stage.

“The suspect has since been identified and he works with the Kenya Police GSU Embakasi. We are in hot pursuit and soon we will arrest him,” said Joseph Owuoth, Police Commander, Kayole.

The family plans to transport her body to Nyahururu and thereafter burial at their home in Subukia, Nakuru County, even as they cling to hope that someday justice will be served.
