Erling Braut Haaland may receive a better contract from Manchester City at the conclusion of this campaign.

With 14 goals in just 10 appearances across all competitions, Haaland has had a record-breaking start to life at the club despite only moving to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

With 11 goals in his first seven Premier League games, the 22-year-old has the most prolific Premier League debut ever. He is on track to surpass Mohamed Salah’s record of 32 goals in a season with 38 games, which he currently holds.

This year, Man City prevailed over rival teams to sign Haaland, whose contract is thought to be worth £375,000 per week.

A release clause worth €200 million (£175.8 million) or €175 million (£153.8 million) may be triggered under the terms of Haaland’s current contract in 2024 or 2025, respectively, if certain minimum sporting goals have been met by then.

Given that Alf-Inge Haaland, Haaland’s father, recently disclosed that his son is eager to test himself in every top league in Europe, any new contract is likely to retain those clauses.

In the past, City has frequently given promotions to players after a successful first season with the team. Examples include Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte, and Ederson, who all received raises after their rookie seasons.
