Outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has dismissed claims that he has endorsed Amani National Congress (ANC) governor candidate Cleophas Malala to succeed him.
In a tweet on Monday, 29th August, the ODM deputy Party leader said that his Facebook page has been hacked.
Oparanya asked Kenyans to ignore the report saying the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is acting on the matter.
“This is to NOTIFY the general public that my Facebook page has been hacked by agents of doom.IGNORE any post on my Facebook page as we await @DCI_Kenya to handle the matter and restore it,” he said on his Twitter handle.
A photo of Mr Malala, who is in the race for governor seat on ANC ticket has been posted on Governor Oparanya account.
Mr Oparanya has been leading campaigns for Mr Barasa and urged voters in Kakamega to elect the former managing director of the Kenya Electricity transmission Company (Ketraco) as his successor.
This comes on the day Kakamega residents elect their Governor after the IEBC announced the date for the remaining wards, constituencies, and counties to hold elections.
After ballot papers were mixed up in Mombasa and Kakamega counties, the IEBC postponed the election.
The race to succeed Governor Oparanya has attracted seven candidates.
They are Cleophas Malala (ANC), Barasa, Cyrus Jirongo (UDP), Suleiman Sumba (Kanu), Samuel Omukoko (Maendeleo Democratic Party), Michael Osundwa and Austine Opitso (independent).
