The Harambee Stars defeated Rwanda 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier, giving Engin Firat’s side their first win in the qualifiers.
Three of the Stars’ first five encounters had ended in draws, with two of the others resulting in defeats to Mali.
The team’s most recent appearance came in Uganda, where they lost a one-goal lead to draw 1-1 due to goalie Brian Bwire’s costly blunder.
However, the team made apologies against Rwanda in the final round of Group E matches, winning only one of the six matches against them.
Michael Olunga, Kenya’s captain, got the team off to a flying start with a goal after three minutes of play, before Richard Odada increased the advantage.
