Harambee Stars Fall to Gabon as Ruto, Raila Grace Match

President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were among the dignitaries who graced the Nyayo National Stadium as Kenya’s Harambee Stars took on Gabon in a thrilling match.

The sold-out game ended in disappointment for the home side, as Gabon’s star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck twice to secure a 2-1 victory for the visitors. Kenyan captain Michael Olunga netted a consolation goal, but it was not enough to turn the tide.

Government Pledges Continued Support

Following the match, President Ruto praised Harambee Stars for their spirited performance, assuring continued government support to strengthen the team for future fixtures.

“Harambee Stars put up a spirited fight against Gabon in today’s thrilling match. We will keep supporting our boys to ensure that they are better prepared and motivated to deliver results in the coming fixtures,” Ruto said.

He also commended the electric atmosphere at Nyayo Stadium, where thousands of fans turned up to support the national team.

Football Kenya Federation Hails Fan Turnout

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed expressed gratitude to Kenyan fans, acknowledging their unwavering support despite the team’s loss.

“A gallant fight from Harambee Stars, but we live to fight another day. Huge thanks to all Kenyans for the incredible support – the 12th man was truly behind the boys today, and it felt special after years of playing away from home. We keep pushing forward,” Hussein remarked.

Despite the setback, the national team looks ahead to their next fixtures, determined to bounce back stronger.
