Former IEBC Chair Issak Hassan Eyes Appeal Court Job

Hassan specialized in commercial and constitutional law as a practising lawyer.

The Judicial Service Commission is currently interviewing former IEBC chairman Hassan Ahmed Issack for the position of judge of the Court of Appeal.

He has told the panel that his track record as the head of the electoral commission qualifies him for the position of judge.

“The IEBC is now one of the most professional and powerful bodies in the region…
It is due to the foundation I laid.
I envisioned this institution serving the country in the near future “Hassan stated.

He was IEBC’s chairman from November 2011 to October 6, 2016.

From May 2009 to November 2011, he was the Chairperson of the Interim Independence Electoral Commission (IIEC).
Hassan specialized in commercial and constitutional law as a practising lawyer.

Hassan claims that his extensive experience in handling electoral matters, including dispute resolution, qualifies him for the position.

Aside from electoral matters, Hassan stated that he has experience arbitrating cases in commercial law, civil law, and criminal law on a local and international level.

Kihara Kariuki, the Attorney General, asked him what recipe he would implement to combat corruption in the judiciary.

Hassan stated that all judges would be subjected to annual lifestyle audits.

“Every year, we should conduct a lifestyle audit on ourselves.
We should be able to conduct a lifestyle audit to determine whether I’m living above my means “Hassan stated.

Lifestyle audits are an important management tool for preventing and detecting fraud and corruption in government.

The vetting process is still in progress
