A teacher was shot and killed by bandits in Kerio Valley last evening just two days after 13 other students and two teachers were severely injured in another attack in the same area.

The deceased was a headmistress at Kipyebo Primary School and worked as a catechist at the local Catholic Church.

She had preached at the Kipyebo Catholic Church on Sunday and was on her way home when she was suddenly ambushed.

Bandits last Friday attacked a convoy of school buses, killing one driver. The buses were ferrying students of Tot Secondary School from a trip when then they were attacked on Friday night as they were getting back to their school.

At least twelve students and two teachers are still recovering in the hospital.

“We are quite saddened by the situation and despite all the promises by CS Fred Matiang’i the attacks are still occurring,” said Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

He strongly condemned the killing of the School Headmistress.
