Health CS Nakhumicha Revokes Appointment of 2 KEMSA Officials 7 Days After Hiring

On Friday, March 17, Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha revoked the appointments of two board members of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Wato Doko and John Konchellah were released from duty only seven days after being hired.

The CS announced in a gazette notice that the two officials from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority’s board of directors were no longer members of the board.

” In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (e) of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Health revokes the appointment of above mentioned,” read part of the notice.

However, the CS did not state why the appointments were revoked.

Doko and Konchellah were appointed to a three-year contract by Nakhumicha, along with Mercy Chengoris. The Gazette Notice, dated Monday, March 6, directed the appointees to take office on Friday, March 10.

In addition, the CS appointed Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia under subsection (ea) of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority Act.
