Health Workers march to Parliament, as strike enters second week

The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) has faulted opposition leader Raila Odinga’s statements over the ongoing strike, accusing the government of sidelining the plight of health workers. – By Gerald Gekara

While convening at the Uhuru Park, the Clinical workers led by their leader, Peterson Wachira said the they will not go back to work until all their grievances are addressed.

“The Government should move with speed in resolving the grievances raised in the Strike Notice. In the meantime, the strike is Still on until an amicable solution is found.”

Raila Odinga earlier urged the health workers to consider the state of the Economy and those of dying Kenyans.

“It’s not only doctors who are dying. We are also in a hard position economically… this is not the time to hold the government at ransom.” he said.

The statement awoke the fighting spirit in nurses as more continued to stay away from their work stations.

The striking Health workers will a peaceful demonstration to Afya House and will later will proceed to Parliament to push government to address their grievances.
