Heavy Security Deployed at Milimani Law Courts Ahead of Gachagua Impeachment Judgment

By Andrew Kariuki

Security has been significantly heightened at the Milimani Law Courts ahead of the highly anticipated judgment in the impeachment case involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Dozens of police officers were deployed around the court premises on Monday morning as preparations intensified for the delivery of the judgment by a three-judge bench sitting at the Ceremonial Hall.

The ruling, expected from 11:00 a.m., is set to determine the fate of legal challenges surrounding Gachagua’s impeachment, a case that has attracted national attention and generated intense political interest across the country.

Court entrances and key access points were placed under close security surveillance, with officers monitoring movement in and around the court precincts as lawyers, litigants, journalists and members of the public arrived ahead of the proceedings.

The judgment is expected to address several constitutional and procedural issues arising from the impeachment process, which has remained one of the country’s most closely watched legal and political disputes.

More details to follow as the court delivers its decision.
