An advocate of the High Court has been charged with obtaining Ksh 26 million from a woman pretending to be able to help her win a civil suit.
David Chege Mboche, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya was arraigned today before a Nairobi Court facing charges of fraudulent acquisition of money.
According to the charge sheet, David Chege on diverse dates between February 2022 and July 2023 at an unknown place within the republic of Kenya jointly with others already under prosecution, obtained Ksh 26, o75,000 from Marriane Kamau by falsely pretending he was in the conduct of the non-existing civil case at Milimani Law Courts a fact she knew to be false.
Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi, the accused denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh 1 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000.
The case proceeds on August 24.
