Eleven senior doctors and directors from Nairobi Hospital have secured relief after the High Court granted them anticipatory bail.
On Tuesday, March 25, each of the senior officials received KSh 100,000 in anticipatory bail, shielding them from potential arrest or detention by the police.
The directors had turned to the court, seeking protection from what they described as imminent arrest or prosecution.
They emphasized their readiness to cooperate with the authorities and assured that they would appear alongside their legal representatives whenever required by the police or the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to record statements.
High Court Judge Diana Kavenza ruled in their favor, agreeing that their concerns held merit and issued protective orders.
Represented by lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Omari, the directors argued that the threat of arrest stemmed solely from their positions on the hospital’s board.
They asserted that they are law-abiding citizens and accused the authorities of using intimidation, harassment, and coercion to force actions that contradict the constitution and the mandate of the Kenya Hospital Association Limited.
