The High Court has temporarily stopped a wedding that was set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at a residence in Karen, Nairobi.

The court certified the matter as urgent, noting that it stems from a family dispute that should ideally be addressed through negotiation or mediation.

It directed that the respondent be personally served ahead of an inter partes mention scheduled for today, December 5, 2025, at 3 p.m.

Pending that appearance, the court issued a temporary injunction restraining the respondent, her agents, representatives or any other person acting under her instructions from proceeding with, facilitating or participating in the planned wedding ceremony involving the applicant’s daughter.

The orders arise from a case filed by Nairobi businessman Francis Julius Ogallo against his former wife, Gladys Ong’ayo Ogallo.

Ogallo, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, claims he was deliberately excluded from their daughter’s wedding, causing him emotional distress and humiliation.

He argues that the exclusion amounts to emotional abuse under the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act.

Ogallo alleges that the respondent misrepresented his views on the choice of clergy, circulated false allegations about him, and shared his private communication with third parties in order to justify locking him out of the ceremony. He also cites similar exclusion during their eldest daughter’s wedding in 2021.

He maintains that he does not oppose the wedding itself, but says his concerns about the officiating clergy; whom he accuses of past defamatory conduct, were distorted by the respondent to sideline him completely.

In his affidavit, Ogallo also disclosed that he has been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over alleged threats and defamation, claims he denies.

Annexed to the court papers is a summons dated November 12, 2025, requiring him to appear before the DCI Nairobi Area offices.

The High Court is expected to issue further directions after this afternoon’s inter partes mention.
