Aisha Jumwa, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Gender, is now free after the Mombasa High Court dismissed murder allegations against her.
The latest development comes a month after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) filed an application to drop the case, stating that the CS will instead testify as a state witness in the case.
Jumwa and her security Geoffrey Okuto were charged with the murder of Ngumbao Jola, who was shot dead during a ward by-election in Kilifi County in 2019.
High Court Judge Ann Onginjo discharged Jumwa from the criminal proceedings and allowed her to be turned into a prosecution witness.
