An expulsion notice that targetted Isaac Mwaura has been temporarily stopped. – By Gerald Gekara.
The High Court in Nairobi said the move was suspended until the case challenging the removal of the nominated senator was heard.
“That pending the hearing and determination of this application inter partes, the first respondent, 2nd respondent, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Speaker of the Senate be and hereby barred from implementing the decision of the 1st and 2nd respondent,” the ruling reads.
The case will be heard on April 15, 2021.
The move comes after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal suspended the decision by the Jubilee Party to expel 6 nominated senators until cases challenging the same are heard.
The six, Isaac Mwaura, Seneta Mary Yiane, Waqo Naomi Jilo, Omanga Millicent, Prengei Victor, Iman Dekow and Gona Christine Zawadi were controversially expelled from the party after a decision by Jubilee Disciplinary Committee.
