The Homa-Bay County Referral Hospital has issued a 14-day notice over 11 unclaimed bodies lying at the facility.
According to the management, the bodies have been lying at the morgue for more than three months.
“Once the 14-day notice lapses, we will bury the unclaimed bodies in a mass grave,” officer in charge of public health Naphtali Okwatch said.
The hospital’s management noted they will request the Homa-Bay Law Court to give them a green light to bury the bodies in order to decongest the mortuary.
Hospital administrator Kennedy Awino said once granted they will swear an affidavit followed by the disposal of the bodies.
The bodies include six females, three minors and two males who were found dead on different locations within the county.
