Homa Bay: Father Takes Own Life After Poisoning His Four Children

Four children are in critical condition in a Homa Bay hospital after their father allegedly poisoned and stabbed them before committing suicide inside their rental home in Nyagoro Trading Center, East Kochia Location.

The children, aged 3 to 9, were seriously injured on Tuesday night as a result of alleged domestic disputes between their father, Ronnie Ochieng’ Nyore, and his wife.

According to East Kochia Location chief Kennedy Odero, Ronnie allegedly poisoned the children with a pesticide before stabbing them in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

Chief Odero said the suspect locked himself in his rental home in Nyagoro Center with injured children before consuming the pesticide to end his life.

When the wife returned home, she found her husband locked inside, and when she pushed the door open, the children were lying in a pool of blood, while the husband had already died.

Bodaboda riders and locals who heard her distress call rushed the children to Janeiro Private Hospital.

They were later transferred to the Homa Bay county referral hospital in critical condition.

The deceased’s body has been transported to the county referral mortuary in preparation for the postmortem examination.

Odero said investigations are ongoing to determine the primary cause of the incident.
