Homa Bay Workers Down Tools Over Late Pay

Over 100 casual laborers employed by the Homa Bay County Government’s Department of Water and Environment are protesting the late payment of their monthly wages.

The workers especially cleaners claim that they have not been paid for seven months.

Workers led by Thomas Mwai addressed the press in Homa Bay town, demanding immediate payment of their arrears from the devolved unit.

The workers have also vowed to file a lawsuit against the county administration if their issues are not addressed by next week.

However, Moses Buriri, the Chief Officer of the Department of Water and Environment, informed the workers that they would begin collecting their wages on Tuesday of the next week.
