A homeless deaf and mute man accused of breaking into the home of Kasarani MP and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri and stealing property valued at over Ksh100,000 has pleaded guilty before the Milimani Law Courts.
Jeremy Kamau was charged with burglary contrary to Section 304(2) of the Penal Code and stealing in a dwelling house contrary to Section 279(b) of the Penal Code.
According to the charge sheet, Kamau unlawfully entered Ronald Karauri’s residence in Westlands on January 18, 2026, at about 1:00 a.m. and stole an Apple MacBook Air M2 laptop valued at KSh100,000, a can of Heinz beans worth Ksh250 and a can of Maison Perrier energy drink valued at Ksh250.
The accused admitted the charges after they were read and explained to him through a sign language interpreter.

Court proceedings further heard that after he was discovered inside the residence, Kamau allegedly charged toward security personnel guarding the property. In response, he was shot in the leg during the confrontation.
Kamau appeared in court using a walking frame, with the injury reportedly stemming from the shooting incident that occurred on the night of the alleged burglary.
The court directed that a pre-sentensing report be prepared before sentencing to assist in determining the appropriate sentencing options.
The matter was adjourned and will be mentioned on June 17, 2026, when the court is expected to consider the pre-sentencing report before issuing further orders.
