Woman In Wanjigi’s Ksh. 220M Land Row Faces Fraud Charges

Cissy Kalunde Musembi was arraigned in Court today under allegations of conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 317 of the Penal Code.

Woman charged with fraud worth hundreds of millions finally takes plea after the case has been dragged along the corridors of Justice for 10 years.

Cissy Kalunde Musembi was arraigned in Court today under allegations of conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 317 of the Penal Code.

According the charge sheet, Kalunde on September 12, 2012, jointly with others yet to be apprehended, conspired with intent to defraud Horizon Hills of a piece of land registered in the name of the said company, by pretending that she was capable of purchasing the land at a price of Ksh 220 million a fact she knew to be false.

She also faced charges of the forcible detainer, where she is believed to have held possession of the said land without colour of right in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace against directors of Horizon Hills Limited.

However, the accused woman denied particulars of the fraud case before Chief Magistrate Micheni Wendy of Milimani Law Courts stating that the case is fabricated and she stands a constitutional right for the presumption of innocence until the contrary is proven.

She was nevertheless released on a bond of Ksh 4 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 1 million.
