A nanny cried uncontrollably in court seeking forgiveness after pleading guilty of stealing her employer’s Ksh 683,700 gold ring.
Violet Ndukwe Lijodi found herself pleading for mercy and forgiveness after her employer dragged her to court for stealing her 5300 USD gold ring and auctioning it at Ksh 4000.
Violet who at the time was lamenting for mercy told court that she collected the ring as she was cleaning the house in Runda and decided to sell it to help her ailing father get some treatment.
The complaint, Norah Michelle Were resides in Australia, and is a nurse by profession.
She came to Kenya for holiday at her sister in-law apartment in Runda and chose to employ a nanny to look after her children.
She then employed Violet as a nanny. At the time she had her gold ring in a bag then after some few days Violet requested for off day.
The complainant allowed Violet to proceed for the off day with conditions that she should resume work within a few days.
After resuming work the complaint realized her gold ring was missing, she confronted Violet who denied but later confessed taking the ring which she had sold to her co-accused person for Ksh 4,000.
The Court ordered for presentence report on September 5.
Her co-accused person Francis Mwima denied the charges and was released on Ksh 1 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000.
