How a Juja Man Was Drugged and Robbed of Nearly a Million

Written By Joyce Nzomo

Victor Kipngetich has been arraigned in court and charged with two serious offences following an incident that occurred on May 3, 2025, in the Burudani Address area of Juja, Kiambu County.

In the first count, Kipngetich—together with others not present in court—is accused of administering a stupefying substance identified as Baltmint to one David Kimani with the alleged intention of committing a felony. The drugging is said to have taken place at a residence within Burudani Address.

In the second charge, Kipngetich is accused of participating in the theft of several high-value items belonging to Kimani. The stolen property reportedly includes a MacBook laptop worth Sh60,000, a Samsung S20 smartphone valued at Sh40,000, a Bluetooth speaker, Sh200,000 withdrawn from the victim’s M-Pesa account, and more than Sh500,000 transferred from his Equity Bank account. The total value of the stolen goods and funds is estimated at over Sh900,000.

The accused denied all charges when presented before the court. The prosecution indicated that investigations are ongoing, especially concerning other suspects yet to be apprehended.

The court directed that Kipngetich be interviewed by a probation officer before the consideration of a formal bail application. The matter is set for mention on July 16, 2025, with the hearing scheduled to commence on October 24, 2025.

The case has sparked concern over rising incidents involving the use of sedatives to facilitate theft, particularly in urban settings.
