The Council of Governors appointed committee chairpersons on Saturday to ensure smooth operations.

The committee was formed on Saturday, following the induction workshop for the Governors and Deputy Governors in Mombasa.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has been appointed to the Finance, Planning, and Economic Affairs Committee.

Muthomi Njuki of Tharaka Nithi will chair the Health Committee, while Kenneth Lusaka of Bungoma will chair the Agriculture, Livestock, and Cooperatives committee.

Governor Andrew Mwandime of Taita Taveta has been appointed to chair the Water, Forestry, and Natural Resources Management Committee.

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Ny’ongo will preside over the Lands, Housing, and Urban Development Committee.

Mutula Kilonzo Jnr of Makueni County will preside over the Legal, Constitutional Affairs, and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.

The Education Committee will be chaired by Kericho Governor Erick Mutai, and the Gender, Youth, Culture, Sports, and Social Services Committee will be chaired by West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin.

Wavinya Ndeti, Governor of Machakos, will chair the Trade, Industry, and Enterprise Development Committee.

The Human Resource, Labor, and Social Welfare Committee will be chaired by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo will chair the Environment and Climate Change Committee.

Issa Timamy, Governor of Lamu, has been appointed Chair of the Blue Economy Committee.

The Energy, Roads, Transport, and Infrastructure Committee will be chaired by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

Garissa Governor Nathif Jama will chair the Arid, Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Disaster Management Committees.

The Resource Mobilization and Partnership Committee will be chaired by Cecily Mbarire of Embu County.

Wisley Rotich, Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet, will chair the ICT and Knowledge Management Committee.

Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana will chair the Security and Foreign Affairs Committee, while his Narok counterpart Patrick Ole Ntuntu will chair the Tourism and Wildlife Committee.
