How Kalonzo Stopped Key Machakos Road – Waita

Nzioka Waita has said that a road whose construction he had organized and which had started, stalled after a call from Tseikuru. 

Speaking to residents of Kiima Kimwe in Machakos, Nzioka told the mammoth crowd that he will complete construction of the road and build many more within the county budget to ensure smooth movement of goods and services in Machakos.

He said that he will work closely with the incoming president President Raila Odinga to ensure that that Machakos gets a good piece of the 85% budget that is controlled by the National government.

Nzioka has pledged that he will fix the health situation in Machakos starting with facilitating Community Helth workers with medicine and a stipend to ensure that they can effectively serve the people.

He will also equip polytechnics, build more and ensure that young people become skilled and capable of supporting their own lives.

He has rued the lack of water in many parts of Machakos, said that it is unfortunate that MAWASCO has been unable to receive water supply because they have been unable to pay pending debts. He said that as Governor he shall fix the issue. 

He said he will zone and plan Machakos county to ensure that industries go to two places: – Joska and Kenya Israel. He will also ensure that bigger industries in Athi River will be taken deeper into Machakos. 

He will also ensure job creation and that jobs go to the youth of Machakos as a priority. He said that young people should organize themselves in terms of SACCOs so that they will get jobs such as sanitation ones.

He has said that any county government projects will be done by locals especially young people.

Nzioka also said that he shall build toilets in the town centre and people will not need to pay.

His government will also fix street lighting otherwise known as Mulika Mwizi so that business can happen in a 24 -hour economy. He has also pledged that he will grow the wholesale business in Machakos so that Machakos products such as Mangoes can draw strong market. 

“We shall make Machakos county number one in Kenya.” He said. “Boda Boda people will not need to pay anything to get their Licence’s” he said adding that he will ensure they are trained freely.

Regarding the youth fund, he said he shall give loans for buying farm equipment and inputs. “Our journey will be long, I will not give you empty promises”. He said.

I will support the MCA’s to enable them serve the people smoothly. “I shall give a budget of 20M Kshs to ensure MCAs take care of Early Childhood Development and other needs. 

Women were not left behind, as Nzioka promised to find them market for their products and establish a fruit processing plant to ensure they can sell their products.
