Double Tragedy: How Kenyan Man Lost His Car While Watching Kenya-Gabon Match

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reported that a football fan lost his vehicle to robbers during the Gabon-Kenya match on Sunday, March 24.

In a statement, the DCI noted that the vehicle was stolen while parked by the roadside along Kisauni Road behind the Nairobi West Hospital.

“Reporting at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, the car owner indicated that he parked his Toyota IST registration number KBN 093B silver in colour at the said spot, at 3.40pm and proceeded to the fan-parked stadium for the World Cup Qualifiers showdown,” the statement read in part.

Still healing from a 2-1 loss to the Aubameyang-led Gabonese, the man returned to pick his car at minutes past 7pm only to find it missing.

The DCI officers at the Lang’ata Police Station promptly launched an investigation to find the vehicle and it has already been circulated as missing.

The man has since provided sufficient proof of ownership of the vehicle to the police.

In another similar case, police in Juja are also investigating the theft of a white Toyota Axio, registration number KCR 628U which was stolen from a residential house at Matangi area near Rurii Primary School, Kimbo.

The owner had left it parked outside the residential home on Saturday night, but on waking up found it gone.

The National Police Service (NPS) has since urged the public with any information about the stolen vehicles to report to any police station or call the National Police Service.

“Have you seen these cars? Please report to any police station or call the National Police Service hotlines 999, 911, 112 or 0800722203 to #FichuakwaDCI,” the statement added.
