George Natembeya, the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, has resigned to pursue his political ambitions.

In this year’s General Election, Natembeya, who has served as Rift Valley Commissioner for two and a half years, is aiming to remove Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba.

“I’m giving up my police uniform and responsibilities. Unless there are extraordinary circumstances, I won’t be seen in it,” he said on Wednesday.

Natembeya has been on the security docket for at least 25 years.

Natembeya says he would now Prepare to charm inhabitants of Trans Nzoia ahead of the August 8 General Election.

Natembeya is banking on the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Interior CS Fred Matiangi, and his PS Karanja Kibicho.

In what is expected to be a highly competitive race to succeed incumbent David Khaemba, he will face Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Trans-Nzoia Woman Representative Janet Nangabo, Abraham Sing’oei, and Maurice Bissau.

Philemon Samoei, Andrew Wanyonyi, and Moses Khaoya are among the other competitors.
