Hundreds of Kenyans Rally in Solidarity with Gaza at Tree 4 Gaza Event

Thousands of Kenyans gathered at Uhuru Park on Saturday for the Tree 4 Gaza event, a public demonstration of support for Palestinians amid ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The peaceful march extended into the streets of Nairobi, with citizens raising their voices in solidarity and calling for humanitarian action.

The gathering marked a rare moment of national unity on a deeply polarizing issue, challenging Kenya’s long-standing neutral stance on the Gaza crisis.

Organizers described the turnout as a reflection of growing public frustration over perceived inaction by authorities in the face of a humanitarian emergency.

During the event, over ten million shillings was raised through auctions and donations to support medical aid for Palestinians.

Participants contributed personal jewelry for auction, while local vendors at Uhuru Park pledged half of their proceeds to the cause.

In a symbolic gesture of long-term commitment, the organisers also launched a tree-planting initiative aimed at planting ten billion trees, linking environmental action with humanitarian solidarity.

UK Recognizes Palestine State

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced the United Kingdom’s formal recognition of a Palestinian state, over a century after the Balfour Declaration and 77 years after Israel’s creation under the British Mandate of Palestine.

The decision comes amid ongoing daily raids by Israeli soldiers and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank, where Israel continues plans to annex territory and undermine the prospect of a contiguous Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Starmer’s announcement follows similar moves by Canada, Australia, and Portugal, just days before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where Palestinian sovereignty will be a key focus.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the decision, calling it a “prize” for Hamas and insisting a Palestinian state will not be established west of the Jordan River.
