Deputy President William Ruto has said he will not be up for contesting a review of the constitution, amid his hard stance against the forthcoming referendum. – By Gerald Gekara.

DP Ruto said the Building Bridges Initiative was setting the stage for a heated political face-off, that would intern starve Kenyans of proper governance.

“These are tough times. Countries are talking about the rolling out of the COVID-19 vaccines. Hence, we must finish up this referendum issue and take the country back to a transformation path,” said Dr Ruto.

“We are not available for a competition; those threatening us and daring us to be in the NO formation are wasting their time,” he added.

Ruto was speaking at a Jesus Is Alive Ministries service in Nairobi, where he officiated the ground-breaking for the construction of the Glory Twin Towers.

The Deputy President was accompanied by MPs Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), George Theuri (Embakasi West) and John Kiarie (Dagoretti South).

Meanwhile at the ACK Cathedral church in Kisumu, former prime minister Raila Odinga attended a prayer service where he continued to castigate the deputy president for his push to have a multiple choice referendum.

He added that the ongoing process to change the constitution is setting the stage for future amendments, telling critics that there will be a time in the future to change the document.
