A female police officer accused of gruesome murder of her husband on the night of October 14, 2023, has told court that on the material night she was only protecting her four children from their father’s rage.
The accused police officer, Lillian Biwott is said to have shot her husband 12 times at Kimumu estate in Eldoret.
However, in her defense during the cross-examination, she told court that she was acting in self-defense after her husband attempted to snatch her official AK 47 rifle.
Appearing before Justice Reuben Nyakundi, the accused said that on October, 14, 2023, she had received a call from her husband Victor Kipchumba who during the call threatened to kill their four children.
According to the suspect, her defense is corroborated by her house help who had also called her informing her of the imminent threat to her children.
It was her testimony that when she got into their bedroom, her husband who was armed with a knife became violent and started assaulting her.
She proceeded to inform Court that they engaged in a quarrel for about an hour in their bedroom before the tragic incident took place.
It was her testimony that when she realized that she had killed her husband, she knelt down to pray for forgiveness.
She has so far maintained that had she not acted fast by shooting her husband, he would have killed her first.
She is accused of Killing her husband at their apartment in Kimumu estate along the Eldoret-Iten highway in Uasin Gishu County.
The case will proceed on October 9, 2024.
