Iam Sorry — Impeachment Exposes Multi-Billion Gachagua Empire

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed remorse and pleaded for forgiveness from his family during a church service in Nairobi on Sunday, stating that they have been unjustly thrust into the public eye due to his political struggles.

Facing a proposal for his impeachment, Gachagua acknowledged the toll his political battles have taken on his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, and their two sons.

“I want to apologise as a politician that your names are everywhere for no reason. Your privacy has been defiled as I fight my political battles,” he said, highlighting the challenges his family faces amidst his turmoil.

Gachagua lamented that his political foes have even sought to tarnish the legacy of his deceased brother, publicly exposing details of his brother’s will and properties.

“I’m very pained that my late brother, a man who worked very hard for his family, has been dragged into this. I wish those who pursue me could do so and allow my late brother to rest in peace,” the Deputy President stated, visibly affected by the situation.

In a plea to his critics, he urged them to focus their energy on confronting him rather than involving his family. Gachagua also sought forgiveness from President William Ruto, admitting that he might have wronged him or others during his tenure.

As he braces for an impeachment motion against him in Parliament, where he faces ten charges including gross misconduct and corruption, Gachagua has assembled a team of 20 advocates to navigate the legal challenges ahead.

The National Assembly is expected to make a decision on the matter by Tuesday, as public sentiment increasingly questions the government’s focus on his removal instead of pressing issues like the struggling economy and education policies.
