ICT Manager charged after sharing passwords belonging to Kenya Police SACCO systems

Two suspects alleged to have conspired to steal from The Kenya Police Sacco Society were today charged at a Nairobi court.– By Meshack Makau.
Appearing before Milimani Laws Courts Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, the duo pleaded not guilty of the charges.

Januaris Mulwa Muli and Francis Kitheka Kioko, were said to have on diverse dates of February 11 and 26, 2017, conspired to steal Ksh.10,463,622 from the said sacco. Januaris Mulwa, being the ICT manager of the sacco leaked the sacco’s system password to Francis Kitheka using him Skype account.


According to the police findings, Francis gained access to the sacco’s systems using secure sockets layer and virtue private network.
Mr. Kioko was also found in possession of Mpesa records of members of the sacco in form of screen shots in his laptop.
The matter has been under investigation since 2017. The suspects were released on Ksh. 500,000 bond each with an alternative cash bail of Ksh. 200,000
