Idris Elba To Build A Film Studio In Tanzania

The British film star stated that he not only wants to make more films in Africa, but also wants to help build the continent's film industry. 

Hollywood actor Idris Elba is set to build a huge film studio in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. 

The announcement comes only days after the British actor and humanitarian and his wife, Sabrina Elba, met and spoke with President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. 

Zuhura Yunus, Director of Presidential Communications made the announcement while updating journalists on the results of President Hassan’s recent trip to Davos, Switzerland.

President Suluhu was attending the 53rd World Economic Forum Annual Meeting on Monday. 

According to the most recent estimations, Elba’s net worth is $40 million.

In an interview with South Africa’s SA People, the British film star stated that he not only wants to make more films in Africa, but also wants to help build the continent’s film industry. 

The 49-year-old actor appeared in the new film ‘Beast,’ which was shot entirely in South Africa, and stated that he hopes to pave the way for future major films to be made on the continent. 

Elba is most recognized for his role as Nelson Mandela in the biopic film ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,’ which was released in 2013.

Elba has had four nominations for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor- Miniseries or TV Film, among other distinctions and medals.
