IEBC Finally Clears Kang’ata Irungu to Vie

IEBC has finally cleared Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata to run for governor.

Kang’ata had been given till Tuesday, February 7th, to establish reports that his running companion Winnie Mwangi resigned before February 9th were true.

An individual had sent a letter to the commission questioning whether Mwangi, who had been a lecturer at the University of Nairobi for 25 years, had resigned on time.

EACC had also highlighted her, indicating that it was verifying whether she quit at the appropriate time.

Kang’ata and his team read malice and pointed an accusing finger at their competitors who they accused of attempting to block their clearance.

Mwangi is an expert in land economics and Kang’ata has previously said she will help his administration to boost the number of households in possession of land ownership documents which stands at 30 percent.

“We have been given a nomination certificate and will be on the ballot. Dr. Winnie is not going anywhere. She will render services to the people of Murang’a who need their land issues resolved,” Kang’ata said.

Kang’ata addressed the media shortly after being cleared on Tuesday morning, urging his opponents to focus on their campaigns rather than plotting his demise.

Gachii Mwanza, his lawyer, praised the returning officer for granting the team the right of audience and treating the situation professionally.
