The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced in the government gazette the elected Members of Parliament from 286 constituencies.
The publication excludes four constituencies, including Kitui in rural areas and Rongai, Kacheliba, and Pokot in the south, where elections are scheduled for Monday next week.
The notice was published in the Government Gazette before the parliamentarians’ orientation conference on Thursday, which will be held in the Parliament buildings.
The notice published the names of 286 elected members, as well as the number of votes they received in the recent election.
“IEBC announces that the persons whose names are listed in the schedule below were elected as Members of the National Assembly after obtaining the majority of votes cast in the election held on August 9, 2022, and complying with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2011 and the Constitution,” the notice read.
Clerk of the National Assembly Serah Kioko urged all elected MPs, including those who were re-elected, to attend the orientation session on Friday.
Kioko stated that orientation sessions will include member registration, bio-data collection, the issuance of parliamentary identification cards, and information on how to use the Chamber’s voting system.
She also stated that it will include, among other things, a visit to the Parliament Buildings and a briefing by the Clerk’s Office on important legal matters.
Kioko noted that as soon as President Uhuru Kenyatta announces the date for the first session, the Elected Members of Parliament will be notified.
