The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued an update on its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
In a statement on Sunday, November 2, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon said more citizens continue to take advantage of the opportunity.
“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), in fulfillment of its constitutional mandate under Article 88(4), continues to facilitate Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across all its 290 constituency offices nationwide.
“The Commission notes steady progress as more citizens take advantage of this opportunity to register as new voters, transfer their registration to preferred polling stations, or update their details where necessary,” the statement read.
According to Ethekon, a total of 90,020 new voters have been registered, while 15,619 individuals have transferred their registration to different polling stations, and 188 have updated their voter details
“As of October 31, 2025, the cumulative progress of the ongoing CVR exercise is as follows: Newly registered voters: 90,020; Transfers: 15,619; Updates: 188,” the statement added.
In conclusion, Ethekon called upon all Kenyans and key institutions to play an active role in mobilizing registration efforts across the country.
“A credible and up-to-date voter register remains the cornerstone of free, fair, and transparent elections.
“The Commission urges all stakeholders including political parties, civil society, faith-based organizations, and the media to support this national exercise by encouraging eligible citizens to register, verify their details, or transfer to their preferred polling stations,” the statement concluded.
This comes a day after IEBC declared a no contest for Members of the County Assembly for Tembelio and Metkei Wards in the upcoming by-elections scheduled for November 27, 2025.
In a Gazette Notice dated October 29, 2025, Ethekon declared that the UDA party candidates, Reuben Kigen Tobosei for Tembelio Ward in Uasin Gishu County and Philip Kipkosgei Kiprutto for Metkei Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County, have been duly elected unopposed.
According to the official gazette, Tobosei will represent the Moiben constituency (code 143) under the Tembelio ward (CAW code 0714).
In contrast, Kiprutto will represent the Keiyo South constituency (code 150) under the Metkei ward (CAW code 0750).
In a statement on Saturday, November 1, the United Democratic Alliance congratulated the party and the newly elected leaders on this early victory.
