IEBC held a meeting with the Kenya Media Sector Working Group on Friday to discuss election preparations ahead of the August 9 polls.
The meeting in Diani, Kwale County, focused on increasing media participation in election result management throughout the election period.
“The convention will allow editors and reporters to understand the level of preparedness by the IEBC towards delivery of credible elections on August 9,” IEBC said in a statement.
The meeting also focused on the adoption of a protocol on media access to information, including election results.
The statement said a national dialogue will be held to bring together duty bearers, members of the public and media.
The platform will allow participants to assess the contribution of different duty bearers towards maintaining peace and credible elections.
Protocol for reporting of election results by the media will also be discussed for approval.
The goal is to assess the level of electoral preparedness by the IEBC and other stakeholders on elections reporting.
