IEBC To Receives First Batch Of Ballot papers At JKIA

According to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the first batch of ballot papers for this year’s General Election has arrived in the country.

Speaking during an engagement forum with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Mkenya Daima, and other stakeholders to brief them on the election preparedness, Chebukati stated that 22,120,258 ballot papers for all six elective positions had been printed.

Chebukati affirmed that the ballot papers will have enough security features including serial numbers, which will be specific to each polling station.

He said that the number of ballot papers will be the same as the number of registered voters in each station and therefore no room for rigging.

“There is no additional ballot paper. We know very well there has never been 100 percent voter turnout so if there will be a spoilt vote, it will be accommodated within that number,” Chebukati stated.

A commission team is expected to receive the consignment at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) this morning.

Chebukati noted that election stakeholders would be taken to the printer to witness the printing of presidential ballot papers.
