By Michelle Ndaga

The Inspector General (IG) of the National Police Service (NPS), Mr. Douglas Kanja, has received the highlights of a comprehensive systems review conducted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The review aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and integrity within the police service.

The review process began on 10th February 2025, when the IG invited the EACC to examine the NPS’s systems, policies, procedures, and practices.

The objective was to identify gaps and recommend reforms that would seal opportunities for corruption and promote ethical service delivery.

On 11th September 2025, a delegation from the EACC, led by the Deputy Director of Corruption Prevention, Ms. Neema Mkorori, presented the key findings and recommendations to the IG at the NPS Headquarters, Jogoo House.

In his remarks, Mr. Kanja thanked the EACC team and other stakeholders for their commitment to the exercise. He noted that the findings were both comprehensive and reflective of the realities on the ground, adding that the recommendations were made in good faith.

He assured the commission of the Service’s full commitment to implementing the recommendations to enhance accountability and restore public confidence in the police.

The IG was flanked by top NPS leadership, including Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, Secretary of Administration and Accounting Officer Ms. Bernice Lemedeket, Deputy DCI Mr. John Onyango, and several senior officers from different departments of the Service.
