An unlucky own goal by goalkeeper Illan Meslier gave Wolverhampton Wanderers a 1-0 home win over Leeds United on Friday.
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa said, “There were only a few moments in the game where we didn’t dominate.
The offensive game we had was sufficient to score at least one goal and in a game of small margins I had the feeling we were the superior side.”
Patrick Bamford once again found himself the victim of VAR during Leeds 1-0 defeat to Wolves. The striker was denied a late equaliserat the 79th mimute, with Stockley Park failing to overturn the linesman’s offside decision.
They were punished barely a minute later as Adama Traore beat two markers with a run and hit the ball, only for it to hit Meslier in the back and roll ito the net.
Neto was pleased with the outcome and stressed that Traore deserved all the credit for the Wolves winner.
“The goal was unlucky because it was a great shot and he did a great job. We are working very well. It was important to keep a cleansheet so we are happy.”
Wolves captain Conor Coady said, “A huge win against a real top team. We want to keep improving every game. We enjoyed tonight, it was a fantastic performance. It was a fast game and a tough one to play in.”
The 1-0 win left Wolves 11th on 33 points from 25 games. 12th placed Leeds United are at 32 points and have a game in hand.
For the first time in 15 games, Wolves took the lead. Leeds will look back in anger at a string of missed chances in this game.
