Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has stated that he is willing to leave his position should President William Ruto find him incompetent.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Duale called upon the head of state to reevaluate the work of cabinet secretaries and relieve those who are letting his administration down.
“If the President feels I have let him down as a Minister of Defence, I want him to do the right thing.
“Not only start with me and all the rest who have let him down in the interest of the Kenyans and tell us to step aside, I will have a new team. I am ready,” Duale stated.
The Defence CS noted that the time was right for President William Ruto to make changes in cabinet.
Duale reaffirmed his commitment towards diligently serving the people of Kenya. He noted that even during his time as a member of parliament, he had not let anyone down in terms of delivering on his mandate.
“Anybody he feels is baggage and he feels should come out of the bus he is driving, he should do it, including me, Aden Duale,” CS Duale said.
“I have served the people of Kenya as a member of Parliament, as a leader of a majority and for the last two years as the Cabinet Minister for Defence,” he added.
Duale’s utterances follow a rallying call by senators for President Ruto to overhaul his cabinet starting with the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, Public Service CS Moses Kuria, and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen are among the most scrutinised CSs, and their abilities to hold the said offices questioned by members of the public.
