Improved Rainfall Is Required For Thermal Electricity Generation

Electricity generation from costly thermal sources fell to a six-month low in April, despite improved rainfall, which increased generation from hydro sources.

Thermal electricity generation fell to 125.8 million kilowatt hours in April, down from 206.3 million kilowatt hours in January, according to Kenya Power data.

Nonetheless, geothermal has remained the leading source of electricity, contributing 441.4 million kilowatt hours of power in April.

Other electricity sources in the country include wind, solar, and co-generation.
