The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has launched an inaugural report that seeks to provide statistics on the status of migrants in detention facilities. – By Gerald Gekara

The report that was launched at Nairobi’s Movenpick Hotel, seeks to address the plight of undocumented refugees who have been arrested and are living in deplorable conditions.

Presenting the findings of the report, KNCHR Deputy Director Veronica Mwangi sensitized stakeholders on the need to uphold global committments to defending human rights of any human being, whether Kenyan or not.

‘All we seek as KNCHR is to help duty bearers to stop exposing the country to unnecessary human rights violations.’ Quoted Veronica Mwangi.

Among those who signed their support to the survey report was National Police Spokesperson Charles Owino, who applauded the KNCHR for developing grounds for proper policies to safeguard migrants.
