The sixth edition of the Inclusive Africa Conference is set to take place from June 3 to 5, 2025, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi, bringing together global technology leaders, policymakers, innovators, and advocates to accelerate digital inclusion for persons with disabilities across the continent.
Hosted by inABLE, the conference will focus on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving inclusive innovation. This year’s theme, “Scaling Digital Accessibility through Innovation & Entrepreneurship,”emphasizes the growing urgency of making digital environments accessible to all, particularly in financial services, education, travel, and public transportation sectors.
Key players including Google, Microsoft, Uber, Intuit, Meta, and the Mastercard Foundation will join forces with government agencies, educators, disability organizations, and entrepreneurs to design and promote scalable, inclusive tech solutions. A major highlight will be a pitch session featuring 15 selected innovators, who will present their assistive technology products to potential funders and venture capitalists.
“In today’s increasingly digital world, accessibility is not a luxury or an afterthought, but a fundamental human right and a critical foundation for full economic participation,” said Irene Mbari-Kirika, Founder and Executive Director of inABLE. The conference will also commemorate the World Day for Assistive Technology, underscoring its commitment to inclusive progress.
This year’s conference coincides with a historic legislative milestone: the recent signing of the Persons with Disabilities Act 2025 by Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto. The Act provides a comprehensive legal framework for the rights and protections of persons with disabilities, aligning national policy with both the Kenyan Constitution and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Launched in 2020, the Inclusive Africa Conference has become a leading continental platform for advancing digital accessibility, fostering collaboration, shaping policy, and showcasing innovations that ensure no one is left behind in the digital revolution.
