Infamous KCSE Cheating Mastermind Arrested in Nakuru

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested one Collins Kipchumba Kemboi, a 23-year-old suspected fraudster, orchestrating a notorious cheating scheme related to the ongoing 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Operating under the alias Dorothy Jerop Kiprono, Kemboi was accused of running a fraudulent network that boasted over 78,000 followers on his Telegram channel and more than 8,500 members in his WhatsApp groups, all of whom sought access to leaked examination materials.

His activities had become a growing concern for the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) officials.

In a coordinated operation, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Nakuru County swooped in on Kemboi’s residence, apprehending him without resistance.

The arrest was swift and decisive, as authorities found him in possession of key evidence, including an Infinix Hot 10 Lite phone that he allegedly used to exploit desperate students. Also seized were multiple SIM cards, national identification cards with different names, and a driver’s license.

Further investigation revealed that Kemboi is a university graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, currently employed as a salesperson for an international firm. His roots trace back to the Kaseta area of Sacho in Baringo County.

Following his arrest, Kemboi has been detained at Nakuru Central Police Station, facing serious charges of fraud and unauthorized possession of examination materials. He is expected to appear before the Nakuru Law Courts tomorrow.

The DCI stressed that this arrest is part of a broader initiative to eradicate examination malpractices, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the integrity of the educational system.
