Inferno Destroys Property Worth Millions at Kariobangi Light Industries

A massive fire broke out at Kariobangi Light Industries in Nairobi on Sunday, reducing property worth millions of shillings to ashes.

The blaze, which reportedly started in a timber shop, quickly spread to neighboring structures, causing panic among residents and business owners.

The Nairobi City County Fire Department responded promptly, battling the flames to prevent further destruction. However, due to the rapid spread of the inferno, residents called for additional support from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the Kenya Red Cross Society.

“The fire is so huge, it’s spreading so fast to other structures,” said Habib Omar, a local resident, expressing concerns over the escalating damage.

Eyewitnesses said the fire erupted around 2 p.m., catching many businesses off guard. By late evening, emergency teams were still working to contain the flames.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but it adds to a worrying trend of frequent fire incidents in Nairobi. Authorities have urged business owners to enhance fire safety measures.

As investigations continue, affected traders are counting their losses, with calls for urgent intervention to support those impacted by the disaster.
