Since its inception in the country in 1973, a German foundation promoting governance and the rule of law has celebrated 50 years.
The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) oversaw political dynamics such as the introduction of multiparty politics and the 2010 constitution change.
Mercy Wanjau, Secretary to the Cabinet, stated that the government is looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and Germany.
“Kenya is interested in strengthening cooperation around skilled workers accessing German employment, so it is critical to identify areas where we can collaborate,” Wanjau said.
The secretary was speaking at the KAS at the 50-anniversary celebrations in Nairobi.
KAS Kenya country director Annette Schwendner, KAS Vice Chairman Hermann Grohe, and Deputy Ambassador Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Thomas Wimmer were among those in attendance.
“I’d like to thank you for your valuable contribution over the years to the promotion of governance, the rule of law, and the social market economy; in fact, we look forward to continuing cooperation in the future,” she added.
KAS Kenya Country Director Annette Schwendner expressed the foundation’s commitment to championing democracy in Kenya.
